I had to go to a meeting in Ieper, Belgium and Ruby and Sara came along for the ride. Ieper is the town's Flemmish name and Ypres is the French version. On this trip, we visited Flanders Field and the site of the British cemetery where the battle of Passchendaele took place. The same Canadian Corps that had previously taken Vimy Ridge and Hill 70 (Lens, France) and was by this time considered to be an elite fighting force won this vital section of high ground for the Allies.
